Over the past year, STRING has become more visible on a range of various agendas.
“We have arranged meetings in Brussels where we have met with members of the European Parliament. We have also met with members of the government for Schleswig-Holstein, and we had a great experience in sharing the ‘Building Tourism’ project at a conference in Copenhagen last year”, says the STRING Chair.
Anke Spoorendonk also highlights this summer’s meeting, held on the Danish island of Bornholm, where STRING also contributed to proceedings through arranging a discussion and seminar on tourism during the event ‘Folkemødet’.
“The fixed link under Fehmarnbelt is obviously vital to the development in our own region – but mutual cooperation is definitely also a prioritised focus area. This is evident in the case of tourism, where we have to remember to focus on domestic tourism. We are neighbours, but does not know enough about each other”, says Spoorendonk.
Anke Spoorendonk will hand over her role as Chair for STRING at an annual meeting held on the 30th of September, in connection to the Fehmarnbelt Days 2014.
The one word she uses when asked to headline her year as Chairwoman sums up a constructive year, it being: ‘tangible’.
